For the native English speakers, aka "gringos", wanting to learn Spanish, let me tell you a secret that's not always so obvious... A GRINGO can teach you Spanish BETTER than a LATINO. -What?- You may say. -How is that possible?-
Learning a new language from someone who grew up speaking it, is almost like taking swimming lessons from a fish. They may be studied in how to teach you about water, but more or less it's so natural and obvious to them, that they won't understand the places where you'll get caught up right away. Since language is a long term goal, and early on being discouraged, you may quit. But with proper gringo hand holding, you can make it through with someone who knows how to get you there. Learn with someone like me who has the patience of going slowly; through reading a children's book to having an adult conversation. I encourage using Spanglish and stumbling through conversation while building to the point you CAN enjoy the company of a native speaker. Therefore it's not that you can't learn from native Spanish speakers; it's that to get started, and to get conversational, sometimes it's best to learn from those who have gone through the exact same challenges as you are sure to experience. Thanks for reading and considering learning Spanish with me! Reach out to learn more. I offer online sessions for wherever you are in the world and in person lessons in Denver, Colorado.
